Day 14. Yes We Did

Beautiful sunny day☀️ and very quiet. 😞 I expected to hear noises coming from the back yard but no such luck. I realize we are not the only pool being built so I'll be good. And wait.
Paul had jury duty today so this morning I had the house to myself. I started sewing on the bassinet lining, under skirt and outer skirt. It is looking so pretty. It took 14.5 yards of lilac tuilie to make the under skirt. I hope it turns out as pretty as I envision.
By late afternoon, I was positive no one was coming to work today so I put on my swimsuit, grabbed my float and a towel and headed to the pool. Yep I got in. It was great. I had to be careful since it's still just dirt all around the pool but it was great. I floated and splashed from one end to the other end. 🏊
After Paul finished mowing the yard he took a dip in the pool too!  We can't wait to have everything all set up.

Day 13. Quiet Day

Today's progress seems to be just watching or more like listening to the water run as it fills up the pool. I just checked a few minutes ago and looks like about 9 more inches to reach the bottom of the skimmers. Beautiful sunny day so I hope any of the "muddy" spots are drying up as I write. We really need a busy day tomorrow while we have drier weather.

Day 12. Happy Noises

9:00 arrived with the glorious sound of workers making progress. So happy to see the sun and hear workers noise. I'll share pictures later. And you know there will be pictures.
Okay here are a few pictures. The pad now has the pump, heater and the salt converter. You can also see the pipes that wil soon be connected to the pool.

Day 11 Rain, Rain Go Away.

Steady light rain falling this morning, so no work will be happening this morning. Kevin of Sharpe HVAC did come by and reconnect our AC. That is a big plus. We can go back to our bedroom and stay cool all day. Now just hoping  for some dry weather to get this party started.
On another note I spent most of yesterday sewing the window treatment for the nursery. I can't wait to see it hung up. I'll post pictures later.

Day 10 A Small Step Backwards

Well we had a little activity earlier this morning. Apparently the underwater lights had a very small leak that had to be repaired. This meant draining the pool to below the lights 😢 and then sealed again.
I guess since most of the pool walls are curved it is harder to get a tight seal than on a flat wall. Earlier I mentioned that a very large crepe myrtle tree had to be removed, and it had some roots under the concrete pad that the AC unit was sitting on. As it was removed it cracked and broke the AC pad. So since the pool equipment has to sit on a concrete pad they poured a new pad large enough for both pieces. Unfortunately this meant the AC unit had to be disconnected. On the up side we are lucky we have a second AC unit for the other bedrooms and upstairs. So even though it hasn't been as cool in the house it has not been too bad. Hopefully first thing in the morning we will have our AC reconnected and back on.
Also that should mean the pump can be installed for the pool and the lights put back in. Yeah!!! I hope we have lots of progress tomorrow.

Day 9 Late Start Day

All was quiet after a predawn rain. We thought no work would happen today. All of a sudden we hear tractors moving in the back yard. Brian and the crew showed up to dig the line from the pool to the pump. At the same time several guys were putting the skimmers in place. Also Brian was on another tractor filling in the trench behind the pool walls and smoothing out the ground. Love this progress!
You can see the mud pit where our patio was located. Yuck.
We also have some new yard art!  So proud to advertise for this great company.
Here is the last picture for the day.   It's kinda hard to see but this is where the pump and other equipment will go along with our AC unit. So for  tonight we will only have one AC unit. Hmm maybe need to sleep in one of the other bedrooms tonight.

Day 8 Rain Delay.

After having the water run all night, which ,by the way, is very annoying, the pool finally reached the desired level. Actually it may be just a tad under that level but between a heavy morning rain and an overcast morning the water was turned off. Needless to say since we had a rainy morning, no work was done today. Right now the old patio area is quite a mud pit but the rest of the yard seems in good shape. Hopefully work will resume tomorrow.
On another note our blueberry bushes are loaded with plump bluish orbs. Just bursting with juicy sweetness. Sunday afternoon I picked 2 and 1/2 quarts in just a short amount of time. I actually ran out of daylight before I ran out of energy. I should have picked more today but we both had dentist appointments and several other errands to run.
We did have other progress, we had an water heater overflow pipe in the attic rerouted to another eave vent. Also the yard has been surveyed so the fence work can be started soon.
Here's to hoping for a sunny Wednesday.

Day 6 & 7. Big Surprise

Never, I mean nevah in a million years would I have guessed the pool crew would show up to work on a Saturday. And of all things we were out of town.  Sometime mid afternoon on  Saturday Paul checks his email and finds an email from our Pool Builder to turn off the water and vacuums when there is 5 inches of water in the shallow end.  HUH. what??? So after MANY texts, Mark goes over and checks pool on his way to work night shift. We were concerned since we weren't there but Lauren went over several times to check on water until it got to the right level. Even Brian, the pool guy, went back over to turn one water hose and vacuum off. I was so worried about Lauren walking around on all that uneven dirt, in the dark and of course being 8 months pregnant. She really is a trooper. Paul said she has earned her free pool pass now!  Ha!  By late Sunday afternoon the water was at the 5 inches. Of course since my little happy self was sitting on the beach I didn't capture any pictures of this part. Lauren did snap me one picture of the pool with the liner and water. So pretty.  We head home today. Wonder what progress they will make this week.   By the way did I mention what a great team we have building our pool. Way to go Sea Breeze Pools!

Day 5 I See a Pool!

Today the crew arrived around 8:00   They got very busy mixing Pool-krete to coat the bottom of the pool. By 10:00 they were loading up to leave. Amazing. And how they could coat the sloping sides of the deep end with no mess. At least no mess on the inside. The outside around the pool is still one hot mess.
It really looks like a pool now. About the time they were finishing the surveyors arrived to mark off the lot so we can have a fence put in. So excited.  Paul and I are going to take a few days to relax and enjoy some peace and quiet. See ya next week. Di

Day 4 End of Day

The day started off busy and was a flurry of activity until early afternoon.
After all the pool walls were in place, secured, and braced.  There was a brief lull while we waited for the concrete truck to arrive. After that it was a hurry to get the concrete poured and evened out. This will dry overnight and then tomorrow will hopefully see the plumbing go I behind the walls, put the pool-krete on the pool bottom. Possibly the dirt will be pushed into the upper sections and smoothed out. Monday should see the liner going in and being attached. Im loving all this progress. We have the best crew working on our pool. The past two days were Merle and his partner digging and leveling. A true master of that machine. Today the guys were so nice to answer all my questions and concerns. So pleased with Sea Breeze Pool Company.

Day 4 Early Morning

I got up early this morning and while things were quiet and relatively cool I picked blueberries.
I was able to pick 2 1/2 quarts !
Soon after I came inside the pool workers arrived. They got busy unwrapping all the pallets.
They got busy putting the puzzle together that will make the sides of the pool   These side walls will  attach to the liner.
Looking like a pool now
Really looks good.
I worked in the yard a while pulling weeds, clipping dead twigs etc. boy sure wish that pool was ready so I could jump in.  Bet that will feel really good.
See ya Di

Day 3 Pool project

Wednesday was the final dig day. Amazing to watch as he maneuvers the machinery to dig just the right dimensions. Here is the big Hole in my yard.
It doesn't look as deep as it actually is but it's over 8 feet in the deep end. The shallow end is the wide area at the bottom of the photo.
We also had to remove a large crepe myrtle that could cause problems with the blossoms clogging the skimmers and it was located in the best location for the pool equipment. So it was removed and now we need a new air conditioner pad. We knew the roots of the tree had cracked the AC pad so it was going to have to be replaced.  Next phase will involve putting in the braces around the inside edge of the pool. See ya later. Di

End of Day 2

The shallow end of the pool has been dug and the deep end is a work in progress.
Only one cypress tree was salvageable. Oh well.  This is looking down into the shallow end. Steps will be to the right. Most of Warren County had a rain shower today, ugh. We were lucky to only get a sprinkle. Whew.  Can't wait to see what happens tomorrow!   Until then. Di

Day 2 Swimming Hole!

Progress early this morning. Two cypress trees have been dug up and we hope to plant them elsewhere.  Lots of measuring and positioning going on now!
I'll update later today!

Day 1. Hey-ho, Come on let's go down yonder to the swimming hole.

So after almost 35 years  we are finally taking the plunge.  Yep that's right we are jumping in with both feet. Okay I couldn't resist a few cliches. Today was day one of pool construction. It was mainly just unloading a truck full of pool stuff.  I have no clue what most of it is, except the pool-krete, PVC pipes, and I did recognize the pool leaf skimmer. Ha! Oh and the steps. They are pretty easy to identify.
I am going to try to document this experience.
Well that's it for today.
I hope digging starts tomorrow!
