I Believe 8-0

I am not even going to try to catch up on the past few months.
This year has bees awesome for Mississippi State.  This weekend we play Alabama.
Usually that is a smear fest but this year we are both 7-0.
We are so pumped.
I'll be watching will you?

I remember 1980 we choose not to go to the game and State won.  We also beat Bama back in 2007!!
It can happen again!! I believe.  Do you???

Where oh Where Have I Been

It has be a VERY busy summer.
Lets see just where did I go...
Most of May was spent getting Meme's house cleaned out and  ready to sell.
Memorial Day Paul and I went to Mobile for the weekend, it was suppose to be just a one night getaway BUT our air conditioning went out so we stayed until Monday.  That's another story.
I never realized just how much Mobile looks like New Orleans.
We ate dinner at a local Irish pub that was featured in a Southern Living travel magazine.
It was the best burger I have ever eaten.
The next morning we went to Bellingrath Gardens.  Oh what beautiful gardens.

Then in June I spent one week in Meridian for Teacher Academy Training.
Back home for a day or so including my birthday.
Then we headed north to Tennessee and then Kentucky. We visited the Kentucky Bourbon Trail sites.
2 days, 6 distilleries, 9 bottles of bourbon.
 Four Roses
 Wild Turkey
  Woodford Reserve
 Heaven Hill (Evan Williams)
 Maker's Mark
Jim Beam
Next we headed to Columbia, South Carolina for my third and last summer of culinary arts training.
Some pictures from the Sunday evening reception
Entrance to courtyard.  I may have to use this idea for my brick column

Tomato pies,  mmmmmm good
Courtyard

We had several special "field trips" during the week:

A Sushi Dinner and demonstration                                                         An Etiquette Dinner

Day in Charleston

"Graduation" Day

Okay believe it or not this is only through the third week of June.  I will add more soon.
Until then
love ya

Today we celebrate the life of Dorothy Mae Mohon Different.
She left her earthly home on April 30, 2012 and is now in her heavenly home.
She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend to so many during her 89 years.
We will miss her so much.
She put up a strong fight but it was the Lord's will and she is now in his loving arms.
This her surrounded by some of the women in our family.

The Birds and Bees

Spring is such a wonderful time.  I am loving seeing all the flowers show off their colors.
All the flowers have attracted my hummingbird.
I would hear him zoom by but could not get him to stay long enough to take a picture.  Until today.
Oh he is so cute and rather hungry too.
Also it looks like the eggs are hatched.  I can't see how many or if there is another egg under them but here they are and I finally got one of mommy bird too.
Ahhhh
Well enough of the pictures I have to make my Easter run to the grocery store.  I am sure no one else will think to go today.

Spring is Here!

Ah spring is finally here.  I love the beautiful flowers this time of year.
Last weekend I hastily put up a "springish" wreath, mainly just so I could take down my Valentine's wreath.  Anyway it is a light aqua blue mesh, I had some pussy willow branches from my Valentine's day flowers from Paul that I saved and thought they would look good along with a tiny bird's nest and maybe some eggs.  BUT I ran out of time so it was just the mesh and the branches.  I was out of town most of the week so when I came home I wanted to check it to see how big a nest I needed, etc.
To my surprise a mother bird had solved my problem, although I would have put the nest where it could be seen.  ha!
 Can you see the nest?
 Looks like five eggs.
 The front porch.

While I was outside taking pictures of the bird's nest.  (and yes the mother has returned so I didn't scare her away) I found some other signs of spring.  A few bee's were in the mock orange shurbs.

Here is a close up of one busy bee!

Happy Spring y'all.

Oh my Where did February go?

Ah the best laid plans of mice and ME!!!
I had such great hopes to post a picture at least once a week, but somehow life got in the way.
I won't go into all the details but lets just say other than my sweet son turning 30 the entire month was a wash.  I had an appointment, site visit, audit or something every day of the month.  Plus a few surprises thrown in. I am happy to say my MIL is doing much better, I was so worried for a while there.
Oh there was one other great thing that happened, Paul retired.  Yes I am now the wife of a retiree.  Hmmmm does that sound old to you???  Just a few days after he retired he left here to go to Hattiesburg to be with is mother.  And he is coming home today.  We were talking(texting) last night that other than a couple of times early in our marriage this is the longest we have been apart.  I am so ready to have him home.  And that "honey do" list is pretty long by now.  hint hint.
Isn't that what retired husbands do?
Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

I HOPE to post once a week the pictures from that week.
Here's the plan.

Wish me luck.

Days 23-25

Hello,
I found the neatest thing on Pinterest this week, a monthly assignment of picture topics
I think that might help me and I also think I may need to do one week at a time.
But I will finish out January.
Day 23 - Something Old  actually this is two things,  The ring was my grandmother's and she and my grandfather were married in the early 1900's  and the ring is sitting on an old family Bible.
I love the heart shadow. Do you see it? It took me lots of angles to get the shadow just right.
Day 24 - Something I have made.    I love to sew, I would sew more if I had the time. In the past 30+ years I have made many of our window treatments for our homes.  I love the whole process, picking out the fabric, the design of what will work for each window and the satisfaction of making something myself.  I really love that feeling.  Often when I see something I really like I want to see if I can make it myself, rather than buy it. So here is my breakfast room window treatments.  I love this light aqua and the brown toile pattern.
Day 25- Today's weather -It is raining cats and dogs here.  Thank goodness it waited until I got home.  I really wanted to capture a picture of the lightening but uh I ain't that fast.  But I did get a good picture of the rain coming off the roof above our garage.
Hope you are dry and warm where you are tonight.

Day 24 - Something I have made.

Days 19, 20, 21 & 22

Yes I know I am horrible at posting everyday, even when I take pictues everyday.
Forgive me.  Please?
Okay here are the pictures,  I have been taking pictures of the amaryllis as it opens and the second bloom has emerged now.

I just love how the great close up shots with my camera.
Great weekend, it has gone by way too fast.
We went out to eat at El Sombrero Friday night with some of Paul's friends from Grand Gulf as a going away dinner for a co worker.
Saturday was hectic with a trip to Jackson.  We did a little shopping and then headed home.
I cooked one of Paul's favorite breakfast meals this morning.  French Toast (or is it my favorite?)
I am working on my taking photos of food. So here is the finished product.
It was good.
See you soon.
