Day 5 I See a Pool!

Today the crew arrived around 8:00   They got very busy mixing Pool-krete to coat the bottom of the pool. By 10:00 they were loading up to leave. Amazing. And how they could coat the sloping sides of the deep end with no mess. At least no mess on the inside. The outside around the pool is still one hot mess.
It really looks like a pool now. About the time they were finishing the surveyors arrived to mark off the lot so we can have a fence put in. So excited.  Paul and I are going to take a few days to relax and enjoy some peace and quiet. See ya next week. Di

Day 4 End of Day

The day started off busy and was a flurry of activity until early afternoon.
After all the pool walls were in place, secured, and braced.  There was a brief lull while we waited for the concrete truck to arrive. After that it was a hurry to get the concrete poured and evened out. This will dry overnight and then tomorrow will hopefully see the plumbing go I behind the walls, put the pool-krete on the pool bottom. Possibly the dirt will be pushed into the upper sections and smoothed out. Monday should see the liner going in and being attached. Im loving all this progress. We have the best crew working on our pool. The past two days were Merle and his partner digging and leveling. A true master of that machine. Today the guys were so nice to answer all my questions and concerns. So pleased with Sea Breeze Pool Company.
See ya, Di

Day 4 Early Morning

I got up early this morning and while things were quiet and relatively cool I picked blueberries.
I was able to pick 2 1/2 quarts !
Soon after I came inside the pool workers arrived. They got busy unwrapping all the pallets.
They got busy putting the puzzle together that will make the sides of the pool   These side walls will  attach to the liner.
Looking like a pool now
Really looks good.
I worked in the yard a while pulling weeds, clipping dead twigs etc. boy sure wish that pool was ready so I could jump in.  Bet that will feel really good.
See ya Di

Day 3 Pool project

Wednesday was the final dig day. Amazing to watch as he maneuvers the machinery to dig just the right dimensions. Here is the big Hole in my yard.
It doesn't look as deep as it actually is but it's over 8 feet in the deep end. The shallow end is the wide area at the bottom of the photo.
We also had to remove a large crepe myrtle that could cause problems with the blossoms clogging the skimmers and it was located in the best location for the pool equipment. So it was removed and now we need a new air conditioner pad. We knew the roots of the tree had cracked the AC pad so it was going to have to be replaced.  Next phase will involve putting in the braces around the inside edge of the pool. See ya later. Di

End of Day 2

The shallow end of the pool has been dug and the deep end is a work in progress.
Only one cypress tree was salvageable. Oh well.  This is looking down into the shallow end. Steps will be to the right. Most of Warren County had a rain shower today, ugh. We were lucky to only get a sprinkle. Whew.  Can't wait to see what happens tomorrow!   Until then. Di

Day 2 Swimming Hole!

Progress early this morning. Two cypress trees have been dug up and we hope to plant them elsewhere.  Lots of measuring and positioning going on now!
I'll update later today!

Day 1. Hey-ho, Come on let's go down yonder to the swimming hole.

So after almost 35 years  we are finally taking the plunge.  Yep that's right we are jumping in with both feet. Okay I couldn't resist a few cliches. Today was day one of pool construction. It was mainly just unloading a truck full of pool stuff.  I have no clue what most of it is, except the pool-krete, PVC pipes, and I did recognize the pool leaf skimmer. Ha! Oh and the steps. They are pretty easy to identify.
I am going to try to document this experience.
Well that's it for today.
I hope digging starts tomorrow!

Black Friday

This had to be a Black Friday to remember. After a day full of cooking and eating and of course, football.  Lauren and I headed to the new Outlets of Mississippe in Pearl.  WOW
There  were people everywhere, the closest parking I saw was over in Trustmark Park .  But we were lucky because we had a hotel room right beside the Outlet.( which meant we had a great parking spot).  We checked in and headed right out to start shopping. After about 3 hours of shopping in 26 degree weather we decided it was nap time. So we slept until 6:00, got up, dressed, then headed to Bass Pro. OMG I have never seen that many people in that store.  We decided the line was way too long so we left, we grabbed a quick breakfast and continued shopping. We bought decorations for Christmas, a few gifts, a few things for ourselves and had lots of FUN!  We ate a great lunch at Majestic Burger, mmmmmm. Then did our last bit of shopping at Renaissance Park. By three we were headed home 17 hours after we left. I napped about 30 minutes and then headed out to gat a few local deals.  Already making plans for next year!  Below are a picture from our hotel room and two of our room. BTW that was the biggest hotel room I have ever seen!
The parking lot at 11:00 pm  Crazy crowded

Fast forward to Fall!

Finally it's beginning to feel like fall. Last week I bought mums and pumpkins. The urns by the front door have burgundy mums and I have two hanging baskets of bronze mums in the back yard. I put six small bronze mums in the window boxes today, I'm not sure why I only bought six since I knew I would need twelve, go figure. Guess a trip to the nursery is on my agenda for tomorrow afternoon, after float prep time.  I hope the deer don't like mums as much as they did impatiens. They have eaten all my impatiens this summer. They must be very hungry this year, our English ivy looks like it got a haircut, my hanging baskets are nibbled to the nubs and one night one ( or more) brave deer ventured onto the patio to eat my sweet potato vine and broke the pot!  The deer and I may have a "come to Jesus meeting " soon if this doesn't stop!  I told Paul I wish he had a bow.. Hmmm.
I have a few other decorating ideas in mind too. Maybe next week while I'm out for fall break. Did I mention we are out of school Monday and Tuesday, then Nov. has Veterans Day ( professional day), a week for Thanksgiving, then it'll be Christmas!  Let the fun begin!

Fast Forward

Where has the time gone?  I really have meant to post more often but geez there are only so many hours in a day. Well the first nine weeks is over, I can't believe it. I have all my grades posted and I feel so much better. I have learned so much, I have never been an early riser but for some odd reason I now wake-up around 5:00-5:30 I wake up. No alarm, nothing. So strange. Ha!
Anyway things are going right along. No real problems. We have started out M-Star pilot evaluations. I was so nervous about it but the last few days I had a calm come over me. I'll just do my best and let the cards play out. Coming up this week is preparations for homecoming.  Actually homecoming is the next week but we are out that Monday and Tuesday ( insert happy dance) so we only have 3 days for spirit week!  Floats are being constructed this week.  I'm helping with the sophomores. Sweet group of kids. I'll try to remember to post pictures. See you soon.
